“Oh no you are not doing this to me. I am the one in control here,
buddy. Not you. No matter what you think, I control you. Mr.
Alphahole,” I muttered as I glared at the screen of my MacBook.
“And you will not derail me yet again. Even if you are such a swoon
worthy, sexy daddy of a MMC that I wish could magically pop into
existence.”
My sigh, heavy and not at all the bad assery me I flung out into the
unsuspecting world earlier, did nothing to deter the damn man in my next
book.
Stolen Kisses.
I grinned, still loving the title, but not at all sure where the fuck I was
going with the storyline.
Which was so unlike me.
Delena Bennett never did anything without a fully plotted and not
pantsed storyline written in pencil in case she (which was me, of course)
decided it needed a rerouting worthy of the GPS app on my phone. But,
Liam, the man I was still trying to wrangle, refused to fucking cooperate.
He was being a Grade A dickwad, and while alphahole sold, dickwad
did not. And hell if I knew how to get him to heel.
Fucking men even screwed me over when I wrote them now. I glared at
the keys, wishing for the hundredth time that for once, the beginning of the
damn book would flow. But I had a sinking feeling that unlike my other
novels, Liam was going to fuck me over.
Especially since I dished out for the guy from that damn stranded on an
island TV show with the host I would climb.
Fuck, maybe I should just jump head first into a MFM and live out my
late night fantasy. Host hottie would fulfill my age gap trope. But since the
photo cost me more than I’d cared to admit out loud, sexy not winner of
said stranded on an island man it was.
Reverse harem would have to wait. Mercilessly, I wrangled Liam into
some semblance of acceptable asshole and quit before the urge to put the
fucker in a scary Halloween mask really derailed my writing process.
Fucking viral videos had me second-guessing my kinks. And lane.
Only one thing would save me now. Outside, a steady rain had begun to
fall, coating the streets in a silvery sheen that glistened and turned the world
magical.
Well, at least the kind of magical that made my heart sing with all the
quiet and stillness a rainy night brought.
With any luck, I’d get a decent night’s sleep after, too.
Five minutes later, black Mary Poppins umbrella in hand, phone in my
pocket, I stepped out into the night. For a moment, I dropped the umbrella
and let the rain pepper my face in its sweet embrace. All the cares and stress
melted away.
For a moment, the stress, worries, and silly loneliness disappeared.
Rain fell in a steady rhythm, never slowing and always there as I
walked the dimly lit neighborhood. Not for the first time, the back of my
neck prickled with awareness.
