Darius Smith drove up to a snow-covered Rawhide Ranch with the same
confidence he exuded in everything he did. Even if he was nervous, he’d

Hard work didn’t scare him in the slightest. He’d worked hard in high
school to earn a full-ride scholarship to one of the top colleges in the U.S.
Once there, he’d studied his ass off while he played football and he graduated
with honors. He’d been offered spots on multiple NFL teams but that had
never been how he saw his life playing out. Even in college he could feel the
toll the sport took on his body, and as attractive as the paycheck had been,
he’d turned to coaching instead.
He loved football so it had seemed like the perfect trade off. And it had
been for a long time, but then things just kind of changed on him. He’d been
the youngest and highest paid coach in college football history, and he was
miserable. That was when he decided the money wasn’t worth it nor did he
really need any more of it. He had an extremely healthy nest egg and had
been investing his money wisely from the get-go. It had almost doubled in
the hands of his stockbroker, and he could have retired on the spot, but he
would have been bored to tears with nothing to do but twiddle his thumbs.
When he’d heard through the grapevine at one of the clubs he frequented
that the world-renowned BDSM Ranch from just outside his hometown now
hosted an accredited college campus and was looking for a physical
education director, he hadn’t hesitated to seek out more details. He was back
in his hometown, and if hired, would get to use his degree and love of
athletics to help others, and he would be working in a BDSM setting. The job
at the Ranch would offer the perfect solution and he was ready to put some
roots in the ground. What more could he want?

He stopped in front of the entrance to the resort and got out of his
Mustang. It was a brisk twenty degrees out, but the sun shining off the snow
made the Ranch look like something straight out of a dream. Taking in a slow
deep breath of the fresh frozen air, he headed up the steps. The massive
entrance door was surprisingly light, and warm air hit him in the face the
second he opened it. The lobby of the Ranch did not disappoint in the
slightest. It was large and inviting with a rustic elegance he couldn’t even
begin to describe.
