I sigh as I take a step back. “That’s not true.” And I hate that it’s not true.
Alek used to have no issue with me killing people, but now that he’s married
with a baby, he’s gotten softer. He’s still a hard-ass most of the time, but he’s
implemented a new rule—if someone doesn’t need to die, then show them
mercy. It’s a rule that I’ve struggled with, but I respect my boss, and I’ll do as
he says, even if I have to bite my tongue as I do it.
