“Mm. Morning, pretty boy.”
Victor blinked at the sound of Oliver’s voice and stretched his arms
above his head, basking in the weight of his angel, who was half stretched
across his chest. They didn’t sleep together often. They always started the
night together in bed, but the moment Oliver started drifting, Victor would
carefully—and as quietly as his body would allow—creep from Oliver’s
room and into his own.
It was better that way. He’d felt slightly panicked about the idea of
suggesting separate bedrooms when they first moved in together, but Oliver
had just kissed him on the nose and said, “The secret to a happy relationship
is a boyfriend who gets good sleep.”
Victor was hard-pressed to argue with that one. He was no peach when
he was kept up all night, and Oliver could be downright vicious when he
was sleep-deprived. They were two men built for each other in all ways
except one.
Victor’s legs spasmed all night long, and Oliver was such a light sleeper
that every twitch woke him. In his hazy frustration, he’d kick. In Victor’s
pain, he’d snap at Oliver.
Their first fight had been because of that. Oliver had slept on the couch,
then sheepishly crawled next to Victor the following morning with a sweet
apology on his lips. That’s when Victor had made the suggestion, then held
his breath as he waited for Oliver to overreact.
But he hadn’t, of course, because that wasn’t Oliver’s nature. He just
laughed and said it was another room he got to decorate.
And every now and again, when they were worn-out at night and neither
of them could muster the strength to move, they had mornings like this.
Victor woke up on his back, Oliver draped over him, their bodies rested and
settled. He was still amazed even after all this time that this was his life.
That Oliver was his.
That this was his forever.
“Did you sleep?”
Oliver stretched, his body moving like a cat, which Victor loved. He
traced a line down Oliver’s ribs, smiling when his beloved twitched at the
tickling sensation. “I did. I knocked out so fast. I’m pretty sure we can
consider that you fucking me to sleep, which is something I’d like to do
again.”
Victor snorted a soft laugh and ran his hand down Oliver’s side. “Me
too.”
Oliver arched into Victor’s touch. He was wearing a lace cami that rode
halfway up his stomach, and Victor lifted it, pressing a palm to his warm
skin. He stroked his fingers in firm, lazy lines just above Oliver’s perfectly
trimmed thatch of hair.
“And…how are you now?” His voice was dark with want.
Oliver turned a sharp, toothy grin toward him. “What did you have in
mind?”
