BELLA ROSE
“I THINK I JUST saw him.”
“Where?”
Amelia craned her neck to see.
“Don’t look!” I pleaded, groaning. “He walked that way. I recognized the
shirt he was wearing in one of his photos.”
“You memorized his shirt?” Amelia raised her brows at me. “Weirdo. Here’s
your twenty and some change.”
“Thanks,” I muttered. “And I so did not. It’s just a really expensive shirt. I
recognized the print and looked it up online.”
“Okay, Sherlock. Like, how expensive are we talking about?”
I looked up after putting the money she gave me in my bag. “Like, a little
under one thousand.”
“Fuck me,” Amelia muttered, craning her neck even more. “For a freaking
first date shirt? Move, Bella. I need to see his car.”
“You need to go,” I begged her. “He’ll see us here together and think we’re
going to rob him. God. Please, call me. Okay?”
“Of course,” she nodded eagerly, wagging her brows at me. “You have fun,
babe.”
“Wish me luck.”
I groaned, opening the car door. My heart was pounding as I waved Amelia
off. She didn’t give me a second to recover, speeding off and blowing a kiss
through the window. I was alone and scared as fuck.
I fired Konstantin a quick text telling him I was by the entrance. The signal
was spotty, and it wouldn’t send. I groaned again, my heartbeat speeding up.
I couldn’t leave. Not yet. Maybe this guy would be better than the boring
hiker. Maybe.
There was no sign of him. I walked up and down the pavement outside the
restaurant. I was sure I’d seen a glimpse of him before, but he was gone now.
Horrible thoughts imploded in my head, wondering if he’d seen me too, and
walked off after, disappointed by the sight of me in person.
I smoothed down my pink top. I was wearing leather leggings, something I’d
borrowed from Amelia. I was already stressing about them. They weren’t my
style – I always wore girly things. The leggings were black, and so were the
heeled sandals I’d bought the previous week. My bag felt too small and
awkward. I tugged on Amelia’s diamanté crystal belt around my waist,
feeling horribly self-conscious. I didn’t feel like myself at all.
“Waiting for me?”
I looked up. There he was, designer shirt on, dark hair slicked back. He
looked a bit like Jax.
Same dark hair and stubble. Jax’s eyes were chocolate brown, but this man
had lighter-colored irises. He was a little taller, too, though Jax was tall as
well. He was definitely more muscular and wearing much more classy
clothes. But looks wise… they could be related. I swallowed uncomfortably.
Flushing, I looked away and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
“I’m not sure?” I lied.
“Well, I ordered one good girl.” I could feel him smirking, forcing myself to
look back up, my curiosity getting the best of me. “Do you want it to be
you?”
