A ston
“Get the fuck on, and the next time you show up at my job, you gon’
get what you looking for! You better be glad my boss is just as crazy as I
am.”
If I would have gotten fired because of her, I would have flattened all
her friend’s tires and left their asses stranded. She rolled her eyes and
stomped away. Lucrecia was fuming, and I didn’t give a damn. I actually
chuckled at my pettiness, but fuck her. “I don’t know why you insist on
messing with those ratchet hoes all the time. This what the fuck they do.
Show up at my place of business and make a damn scene. What was her
problem anyway?”

I chuckled then bit my bottom lip. Storm shook his head and said,
“Aww shit. What the fuck you do?”
“She pissed me off, so I creased her Lone Star card.”

“Nigga, what?”
“I bent that muthafucka back and forth. Na she gon’ have to go to the
state building and get a new one. It’s too late for her to go today, and it’s the
weekend. Plus, she gon’ have to get somebody to take her, ’cause she ain’t
got no damn car.”

Storm rolled his eyes as I slid underneath the SUV I had been working
on. “Getting a ride shouldn’t be hard since she got somebody to bring her
here. But again, you need to leave those hoes alone and get you a real
woman. She’ll change your whole hoe-ass life.”
“Well, when I come across one, I’ll let you know. In the meantime, I’m
gon’ do what I do.”

As I tightened the bolt on the oil pan, I thought about what he had to
say. That nigga acted like I was forty or something. Twenty-eight was still
fairly young. I wasn’t crazy though. If a real-ass woman crossed my path, I
wouldn’t let her keep walking. I just seemed to attract these ratchet ones
that didn’t have shit going for themselves. I kind of liked that shit though.
The ratchetness. It just seemed that ratchetness was usually coupled with
lack-of-potential-ass females.

Sliding from under the SUV, I immediately went to the sink to wash my
hands. I’d been a mechanic for five years, and I refused to have all that oil
up under my nails. I wore gloves when I could, but for most jobs, they got
in the way. When I finished washing my hands, Storm appeared back in the
bay area. “I got one for you. When Vida come to pick up this SUV, I’m
gon’ introduce you to her.”

“I’on need no hook up, nigga. I can introduce myself if I’m feeling her.
You’ll mess around and be tryna introduce me to somebody mean as yo’
ass. I like my women ratchet but a lil’ subdued at the same time.”
“Nigga, what the fuck? That’s why yo’ ass single.”

I chuckled as my stomach growled loudly. I’d been at this fucking shop
all day. Storm frowned at me as I looked at my stomach and said,
“Niggaaa.”
