Flying through the air with Flint is torturous bliss. The sun seeps through
the plane’s tinted windows, highlighting his chiseled chest peeking from
his open white shirt and bathing his skin in a pretty amber hue.
Occasionally I will catch the clouds reflected in his sunglasses, and they are
small worlds showcasing the perfection of the sky and all the beauty held
captive in the high, unreachable atmosphere. And I also can’t keep my eyes
from the way his beige colored shorts sit awfully close to his crotch,
outlining every tempting bulge and making me squirm in my seat whenever
I steal a glance.
Just like my plane ride to the island of Corona Cay where I first met him,
the dirty thoughts keep creeping into my mind as a welcome distraction
from everything going on in my life. It doesn’t help that the terrycloth shorts
I was able to slip on before escaping on this plane are tight between my legs
and whenever I move, the delicious tension between my thighs makes me
bite my lip. This same thing happened on the way here, and I’d be lying if I
said I didn’t plan it to happen again.
“It won’t take us long to island hop,” says Flint, tipping his aviator
sunglasses down and peering at me above their lenses. His green eyes flash
like he’s keeping some private joke from me. “But you keep squirming in
your seat like that and I may just have to land this plane in the middle of the
ocean.”
“You may need to,” I laugh, but stop moving around so much. The
practical part of my mind reminds me that he is flying a metal tube through
the sky, so maybe it’s best that he keeps his eyes on the road—um, sky.
I turn my gaze to the windows, and without any sexy distractions, I find
myself reflecting on the last few days—well, as much as I can reflect on
them. Everything went so quickly that the blur of events are almost too wild
to form one cohesive story.
First, my foster parent turned boss, Millicent Taylor, decided to kick the
bucket. Next, I somehow pulled off the impossible and, with a steady hand,
forged her signature enough times to make myself heir to her vast fortune.
Then with that money, I purchased a small bungalow on the all-inclusive
island of Corona Cay. I had hoped to hide out and keep a low profile, but
destiny, it seems, had other ideas and practically thrust four, charming,
damn good-looking men into my life, all claiming to be connected to me by
some sort of fate.
But the weird part is that I feel it too, this pulling connection between all
of them. It’s a little different now with Branch after we spent a steamy night
together under the watch of the giant porn-filled screens surrounding his
bedroom, almost as if our connection has been completed. Now the
insistent, taut string is only between the island’s security guard, Archer, the
island’s owner, Colt, and the pilot of this plane, Flint.
