Later that night, I stood awkwardly at the edge of the omega stage,
fidgeting in my dress that was too tight. The other younger omegas had
already gotten to the closet of dresses before I had gotten a chance to
choose. The brats took all the nice stuff and left me with the castoffs. I was
wearing a sickly green, skin-tight dress that grossly emphasized my wider
hips.
God, I just wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
Maybe instead of drinking so much, I should’ve worked out a bit and
grabbed the best dress first.
Oh well, there’s no time for regrets now.
I plastered my best smile on my face. A resting bitch face would only
scare away any potential mates. I swirled my complimentary orange juice in
my glass and awkwardly glanced around. All the omegas around me were
giggling and entertaining various packs. It was glaringly obvious that no
one was paying me any attention.
I heard the sound of a deep throat clearing behind me.
I instinctively scooted to the side in case anyone needed to go by. I
wouldn’t want to get in the way of any eager alphas.
When no one passed by, I waited a couple of seconds before peeking over
my shoulder. My jaw dropped as I made eye contact with the most gorgeous
man I had ever seen in my life.
Was he even real?
He had a tousled, golden halo of hair and gorgeous chocolate-brown eyes.
His face was perfectly sculpted like a Greek statue, and his muscular form
had lines in all the right places. His perfect lips turned up into a half-smirk
as I took his appearance in. His eyes glinted with a knowing gleam as if he
knew the feelings he was stirring up between my legs.
The bastard was aware of what kind of an effect he was having on me.
I slammed my mouth shut and looked him up and down briskly. I’ll be
damned before I let this stranger think he got one over me.
“Do you need something?” I tried to ask curtly, cursing my shaky voice.
Get yourself together, Gabriella. It’s not like you haven’t seen a hot alpha

His grin widened and he glanced down at the folder in his large hand that
I was just now noticing.
“Ah, they said you were a feisty one,” he chuckled to himself.
That raised my hackles, and I did not like this arrogant stranger one bit.
As if he sensed my mood shift, he quickly stepped towards me, shaking
my hand.
“I apologize for my rudeness. You must be Gabriella,” he said.
“I am,” I replied carefully, waiting for him to get to the point.
