ORANGE

I yr had one elbow propped up on the pillow, his palm holding up
his head, while his other hand traced the new lines across Sal’s
back. It had been five months since the end of the war. For three of those,
they’d been here in Arhhawen. In that time, many of the Black Blades had
gotten their stories inked onto their bodies by Risk, but Sal’s was the most
beautiful.

The best part was knowing that the orange section was about him. The
other guys were there as well, and the colors shifted between them all, but
that bit right before the final battle? It was in orange, representing the
moment he’d accepted the title of sixth mate, or Kernor. And while the
others were adamant that Sal could have as many mates as she needed, he
somehow knew he was the last. They were all she’d ever need. He would
make sure of it.

Tyr let the pad of his finger follow it gently, careful not to disturb the
woman sleeping across Zep’s chest. He just wanted to enjoy this moment
for a bit before she woke up. In his heart, he could feel warmth ebb and
flow in time with her pulse. That meant it had finally happened. For
months, she’d kept the link open between them, burning it into place the
same way she’d done with Jase so long ago. This morning, Tyr hadn’t
needed to strengthen it. The bond was there, and he could finally feel her
the same way the others could. He was now cessivi.

Just with Sal, though. Oh, she’d offered to link him with the others, but
that had felt like too much. More than he could take, at any rate. Dealing
with the iliri-ness of this whole situation was hard enough. To have five
men running around in his emotional life? Tyr needed a little more time
before he was ready for that. The best part was that the guys understood.
Actually, it had been Jase who’d suggested burning the link open.

He’d said this way, Tyr could get used to the bond alone and add the
others in when he was ready. He could take his time about it – since time
was something they now had plenty of. It didn’t matter if it took years to get
there. This was peace, and what else would they need to worry about?
And it had finally happened. That bridge between their bodies was
permanently in place. He could feel her relaxation. Behind that, he could
also sense an echo of more, proving that she was tied to the others in this
bed. Six men, one Kaisae, and they were all piled together like puppies.
Well, like organized puppies.

The suite was made for the leader of the iliri in Anglia, and it had been
renovated to plan for a harem. The bed was the largest thing he’d ever seen,
in a bedroom big enough to swallow most of the houses Tyr had lived in.
