Whop whop whop whop whop!
The sounds of the approaching helicopter grew louder and louder as it
made its way towards the encircled H on top of the multistory building in
Mumbai.
Mehak Khanna blinked against the late afternoon sun as she gazed up
into the sky, watching the chopper’s descent. Her unruly curls escaped from
the knot she had tied them into and flew into her face. She pushed her hair
away but, against the whirling wind, it was a losing battle.
Her boss, Nirvaan Kapur, stood in front of her, watching the scene,
his hands knotted behind his back. Next to him was his other partner from the
US, Saahil Shetty, who’d flown in from San Francisco two days ago just to
attend this meeting. The three of them formed the welcoming committee for
the imminent arrival of this hitherto unknown person—unknown at least to
her.
She pursed her lips, annoyed.
Nirvaan had been rather tightlipped about this investor. What she
didn’t get, however, was why did they even need an investor in the first
place. She’d believed that their company, QubeCore, was flush with funds.
That was what Nirvaan had said at the last board meeting. QubeCore was an
extremely successful gaming company. In fact, they were gaining popularity
with each day that passed as more people across the world downloaded their
game StreetZoneX.
So, what had suddenly happened? And who was this mysterious
person investing with them? More importantly, why did she not know a thing
about him or her?
The helicopter swooped down, landing into its assigned spot and the
rotors finally slowed their maddening whirl. The doors of the chopper slid
open, and a man dressed in a sharp suit and silver aviators covering his eyes
leapt out.
No way.
No effing way.
He grinned as he approached Nirvaan, pocketing his glasses.
Her breath hitched in her throat and butterflies danced in her stomach
as Mehak recognized those unforgettable whiskey brown eyes, that
mischievous smile, and the man behind it all.
Rishi Sehgal.
The heart wrecker!
Correction—the beautiful heart wrecker.
There really was no better word in the dictionary that could do this
man justice.
Mehak felt an almost physical jolt when she realized the bigger
question staring in her face.
He was the unknown investor?!
Nirvaan looked over his shoulder at her and lifted his specs to place
them properly over his nose. His lips tilted slightly upwards and Mehak
narrowed her eyes at him. He quickly swung his gaze to the front. That
traitor! She was going to rain hell upon him for keeping her in the dark like
this. He knew exactly how she felt about Rishi. He was there all those years
ago when… No, she wasn’t thinking about that right now.
Because right now Rishi was striding towards them with his
trademark—I have a sexy dimple and I’m going to flaunt it— grin, and that
unmistakable—I own the world—confidence.
She grimaced.
