“ONE, TWO,” THE ESTHETICIAN COUNTED.
She never made it to three.
“Arghh,” I cried as the woman ripped hair from the most delicate part of
my body.
“Are you okay over there?” Kiki asked. My best friend was perched on
a stool next to the waxing table, scrolling through her phone.
It was bad enough I let her drag me down here for an “emergency wax
appointment,” like that was a thing. No, she had to go and make it worse by
pretending this was a spectator sport.
The angelic looking older woman applied some more wax dangerously
close to my naughty bits.
I stopped breathing, knowing with absolute certainty that some wax
would accidentally go where it shouldn’t, and I’d be in a whole lot more
pain.
Rip.
“Holy-”
“Just a few more strips,” the woman reassured me, a pleasant smile on
her face, like she was actually enjoying the torture she was subjecting me
to.
Kiki chuckled. “Trust me. You’ll be glad you did this. You haven’t been
on a date in forever. It’s time to get over Xavier. I’m sure you’ll love the guy
I’m bringing to the game. If you two happen to hit it off, then this will all be
worth it.”
I grimaced as the esthetician pulled another waxing strip off my body.
“Well, it’s too late to turn back now.”
I dared a peek and found my bikini zone completely inflamed. “I’m
going to need some calming lotion or something.”
The esthetician’s brow furrowed. “You are really red.”
I sat up on my elbows. “Redder than most people?”
She winced and took off the rest of my pubic hair.
I hissed as all the air expelled from my body.
My torturer covered me with a towel, pressing it firmly to my pubic
bone to stop the pain.
“I’ll give you a minute to get dressed and then I’ll take you up front to
pay. We can schedule your next visit while we are at it,” the esthetician said.
“Next visit?” I squeaked.
“Oh yeah. Most people like to schedule before they leave.”
“That’s true,” Kiki concurred.
“You mean, I need to do this again? That didn’t permanently just kill all
my hair follicles and potential for regrowth?” I gulped. “I don’t know how
you do this on a regular basis, Kiki.”
She shrugged. “You get used to it.”
Kiki continued to scroll as I started getting dressed. I wore my usual
uniform: a form fitting long sleeve bodysuit that sat nicely under a
houndstooth skirt with sheer black tights underneath. I grabbed my peacoat
and boots and finished putting myself back together.
My friend finally looked up from her phone, stashing it away in her
pocket. “Let’s meet up for a drink before we go to the arena. I know this
place that makes the best cocktails. They name them after the players. It’s so
fun. I just need to run home first.”
