Real Friends Shower Together
Nathan
“Yeah, just give me ten minutes to shower and I’ll be down. I’ll leave the
door unlocked for you guys. Tell Arlo fucking Stag he’s in charge of setting
out all these snacks.” I shake the bags in my hands at my neighbor Van and
rush up to my front door. It’s our week to host Sunday football, and with
school kicking our asses, Isaac and I both forgot to run to the store this
week.
Once the bags are on the table, I leave them to go shower, but before I
even step onto the stairs I can hear Isaac is already taking one. I can wait
and get cold water or I can get in now and still have cold water. Both of
those options suck, so I strip off my clothes and make an executive decision
to join him in his.
We’re not gay or anything, but we’ve been friends since we learned to
walk and this shower will just be one of many we’ve shared over the years.
Not to mention we save water, time, and our backs get scrubbed better than
solo showers. Makes this a great idea if you ask me. “Honey, I’m home,” I
call out, chuckling when I hear him gasp in there. He’s so damn easy to
startle I try to scare the crap out of him whenever I get the opportunity. “I’m
comin’ in. Arlo, Van, and Jago will be here in ten and I went on a run
before I went to the store, so move over.” I step inside with a wide grin,
taking up most of the space in the small shower.
“Impatient today?” Isaac asks, elbowing me playfully as he turns to
grab the soap.
“Oh, I got you.” I snatch it away and start lathering my hands, working
along his back as I answer his question. “Very impatient, and I didn’t want
cold water. I got some guacamole dip from that taqueria we love and my
mouth’s been watering ever since. Did you get that paper done?”
Humming, he shudders under my touch. “Yeah, but I need to edit it.
Realized once I got in here that I forgot one of my main points.”
“Of course you remembered here. Shower thoughts,” I add unhelpfully.
“It’s nice that I can just walk in your room now and tell you the weird shit I
think of in the shower instead of having to text it to you like in high
school.”
Isaac laughs as he sidesteps me to switch places. “Or just yell it through
our paper-thin walls. C’mon, it’s your turn.”
I spin around with a grin, bracing one hand on the wall as he gets to
work. “I only yell them when they’re really dumb and I don’t want to see
your face when you tell me you hate me.”
