“Play us some music, Olaf,” Achim said with one of his soft smiles.
If they’d been back home, lying about one of their houses or out in the field,
it would have been an invitation to while away the time together more

friends making a request.
“Maybe I’m tired and don’t feel like playing music for you useless

impressed with her bumpkin relatives, but who cared what they thought?
His friends smiled and clapped lightly as he finished, because they
were silly and acted like they hadn’t listened to him play their whole lives.
“Beautiful,” Achim said. “Really is a shame you couldn’t pursue music
instead of just following the family
“I’d rather have Lukas,” Olaf said, and played another song, this one
a festival song, leading the others to sing along. It was a beautiful night, the
air cool but not cold, the stars like pieces of a shattered rainbow scattered
across the sky, his oldest and dearest friends around him…
