Arcadia
“Wakey, wakey, little fae,” a heavy voice said.
Fear rushed within me as my heart pounded in my ears. My throat
was raw and dried from the lack of water. I tried to wiggle free, but my wrist
was tied behind my back. Nothing but darkness surrounded me behind the
blindfold, and I knew exactly where I was or where I thought I was—a
dungeon about to be tortured again.
“Calm down, fae,” the voice said, but it made me freeze. I finally
recognized the voice. It was the Crimson Ravens’ clan leader. We needed to
find the Crimson Ravens for me to get back to the fae world, but they turned
on us.
“Calm down. Why are you panicking?” he said with a sigh before he
lifted the blindfold over my eyes. I recoiled from the bright white light. After
a few blinking moments, I was faced with a tan-skinned orc with long ashbrown hair hovering over me. He stepped closer, and I pushed myself back
against our cage. It was the orc I saved from being beheaded by the humans.
My brows pulled, and the fear brought up angered me. “You
kidnapped us and tied us up!”
“It does look like that, doesn’t it?” He cocked a brow, fixing his feet
to crouch before me. His pin-straight hair was pulled back into a low
ponytail, and his clay red mask he had on during the attack was off now,
hanging on his hip. His bright blue eyes scanned my face. His chiseled jaw
tightened a bit. Maybe if he wasn’t so deranged, he could be attractive. “I’m
not going to hurt you, Princess.”
“I don’t trust you and stop calling me that.”
“I couldn’t let you see our home or how to get to it. I promise you;
I’m not going to hurt you.” For a deranged guy, that sounded reasonable. His
eyes dropped over my body, and I couldn’t help but feel like a wild animal
tied up, and he was hungry for me. “Calm down, now. I don’t want to come
back here again, Princess.”
“Fuck off, lulgijak,” I spat at him as he put down my blindfold.
“The mouth on this one!” He and others chuckled.
“Don’t provoke them,” Thrasher growled at me next to me.
I inched over, my shoulder bumping his. Just the contact of having
him close to me felt nice. I kept silent, leaning into his shoulder. He didn’t
tell me to move the whole time, but the way his shoulder was built told me it
was him or Alek, and I didn’t mind either one.
This was my fault, and I got us into this mess. Humans ambushed us,
and the Crimson Ravens helped us before kidnapping us. I knew I needed to
find them and to find out where the faes were, but not like this.
Whatever we were riding in pulled to a stop, sending me flying
forward. The cage door in the back opened with a squeak, and hands grabbed
my shoulder after a moment.
